Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned Imprinted Concrete (PIC) is an innovative skilled technique. You can use colours and patterns on freshly poured concrete to make patios, driveways, or paths. This recreates the look of real materials like stone and slate as well as timber. This process eliminates the high price of natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned concrete is an exclusive product that requires very little maintenance. It performs better than other products, such as flagstones and tarmac, block paving and tarmac. There are many issues that can be fixed by having a dolomite foundation and four inches of fibre reinforced cement. Alternative products can solve these problems, including sinking, weeds, and moss. You will also encounter problems with block paving, woodrot, and pest control when you have wooden decked patio areas.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
Simply put, patterned concrete is also known as stamped concrete. It involves pouring concrete onto a sub-base and then applying a color followed by a hardener. This is quite different to traditional concreting, where you used blocks to create your finished.
After the concrete has cured, the pattern can be applied. You have a wide range of options, with the most popular being brickwork and textured stone. The most popular choice for domestic properties is pattern concrete. This is especially useful when lining driveways.
Good quality print
It is important to assess the quality of the printed concrete. Laying fresh concrete takes extreme care and dedication. Otherwise, the concrete will become inconsistent and cause a poor floor.
A contractor will typically use six to eight rigid matsa and one flexible mat per set. To span the narrowest part of the driveway, six mats will be required. Flexible mats, on the other hand, are used to access print areas and print in places where the rigid mats won’t.
Although most printing mats measure 600x600mm in size, it is possible to order matts up to 600x600mm.
Colour Consistency
You should consider colour consistency when installing imprinted concrete. This will ensure that your flooring has the desired colour. The main components of patterned concrete are colour surface hardener as well as antique release agents.
Poor final appearance can be caused by poor application of colour surface hardener. This is especially true for larger commercial jobs like retail shop flooring.
Concrete deliveries will be required for large commercial jobs. Each concrete mix will have slight colour differences. The surface hardener matches the colours when they are applied. This is especially useful for larger jobs that may take several days.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
The sub-stone base material must be combined with the subgrade (the subgrade, which could be soil, stones, etc.) to ensure that concrete floors will not crack.
A concrete mix is also important in ensuring structural integrity will remain strong for many years.
This is especially true in high-traffic areas like driveways, multi-storey parking lots, and warehouses where machinery is used daily.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
Patterned concrete driveways should contain 300kgs or more cement per cubic meter.
You will need to use 350-380kgs for cold weather.
An air entertaining agent can be added to the floor to increase its durability and resistance against cracking due to heavy traffic or weather.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
It will enhance the appearance of patterned concrete by applying a solvent-based acrylic paint once it has dried. Water-based acrylics will cause more problems, so be careful with these for patterned concrete.
To maintain the appearance of your concrete patterned, it is worth applying sealant at least every four years.
While it’s not required, this will help to keep your driveway (or any other place where our patterned concrete has been installed) looking fantastic for many years.
